Saturday 3rd February 2006

Welcome to a new season, and I am looking forward to getting back on the bikes very soon.

After a two year break, Seattle based Stephen John hopes to return to race at the TT this year on his R6 Yamaha. He has put an entry in, but has not ridden in enough races in the last 12 months to qualify for a Mountain Course Licence at this time. He is hoping to get dispensation should his entry be accepted to compete in the necessary races in April as there are no events in the Seattle area until then. If this falls through, Steve may well come to the UK later in the year to compete in some Road events before next years TT.

Wednesday 29th March 2006

Stephen John has his entry for this years TT turned down due to the large number of entries and the fact that he had not done enough events during the last 12 months. He has now begun planning to compete at Skerries, the Southern 100, and Jurby South in July in preparation for the 2007 TT. It will be good to see him back in the UK.

Sunday 9th April 2006

Dave had his first meeting of the season at a very cold Jurby Airfield today. Whilst happy with the way things went, he felt that he was rusty after the winter layoff. There was only one race today as sleet and rain later in the day brought a premature end to the days racing.

Sunday 23rd April 2006

Dave had his second meeting of the season at Jurby Airfield. Conditions were much better than two weeks ago, and it was almost warm for a change. The bike ran OK, although he had some problems with the brake going spongy during the two races. Two steady rides, and getting quicker with each session. The bike will go out the Slick Performance before the Jurby Road Races to try and sort out the flat spot, and fit some new inlet trumpets. Dave has also purchased a second ZXR400 in partnership with James Garfield to use as a spare bike at the Manx Grand Prix. The bike is standard, but has a race exhaust system and Dynojet kit. The bike will go to Slick Performance for a rebuild in the next few weeks.

Wednesday 3rd May 2006

Dave has received confirmation that his entry for the Ultra-Lightweight Manx Grand Prix has been accepted. Entries have been sent of for the Steam Packet races in June,  and Skerries and the Southern 100 in July.

Friday 12th May 2006

Stephen John has confirmed that his A-CU licence application has been sent of today together with entries for the Southern 100, Skerries Road Races and Jurby South National events. He hopes to compete at all these events on his R6 Yamaha in preparation for next years TT.

The ZXR400 Kawasaki out at Slick Performance this week to fit new inlet trumpets to the carbs and have a dynorun. We hope to have reduced the flatspot in the rev range, and peak power has now been raised to 74.9bhp. Slick will be rebuilding the engine later in the year in preparation for the Manx Grand Prix in September.
